Welcome to Zarphag.com – Photoblog of Rob Dickinson.
Photography is a long time passion of mine and something that allows me to push myself creatively. I try to capture images that combine the subjects essence with a bite of my own psyche, bringing light and form together with shape and colour, to.
Though I’ll shoot anything that moves, or stays still long enough, living in New Zealand you can’t help but be astounded with the natural beauty of the land. The bulk of what I try to capture is this amazing country, its changing landscapes, its wildlife and its people. I’m forever tying to push my knowledge of photography and processing, trying new things (occasionally failing) or trying old things differently, often with photography its an open mind that can get you somewhere an open checkbook can’t.
I’ve exhibited some work here and there and won a few prizes for my work, including New Zealand Geographic photographer of the year 2011 Landscape category with a classic early morning Hagley Park shot..
I retain copyright on all my images on here (or elsewhere), I welcome any and all enquiries for their use, commercial or otherwise, and will happily take commissions.
Some of images are available for licence via HedgeHogHouse (images are no longer available via getty).
That brings me to gear! I currently shoot with the following bits ‘n’ pieces:
- Canon 5D mark II
- Canon 17-40f4L
- Sigma 50mmf1.4 EX HSM
- Canon 70-200f2.8L

- Canon 24mm TS-E mkII
- Nissin Di866 flash
